A life overflowing with life

Dear one,

"Just add more life into your life." That was one of the sentences Mantak Chia kept on repeating with a cheeky smile on his 80 year old face.

Getting our ‘chi’ (life force) flowing is a crucial ingredient if we want to add more life into our lives. Cultivating a committed morning practice in which we enhance physical fitness, cultivate flexibility in the three different brains, activate the stem cells, smile to our organs and to all our holy holes (yes, also to your asshole) lays the foundation for our day.

Everything we experience - whether it’s physical, emotional or spiritual - has a direct effect on the well being and the functioning of our organs and vice versa.

The ones that study with me have for sure heard me talking about the ‘ecology of care’. Within the Slow Sex Movement, we’ve been refining how this ‘ecology of care’ looks like and how we can actively practice care in everyday life - care for ourselves, care for each other and care for mother earth. My partner Mattie, who is a passionate landscape restorer, has helped me a lot to draw inspiration from nature and translate the system of care that is visible in the natural ecosystem into the human ecosystem. As we are all one, the principles are the same. Just that the plants are smarter than we humans. So there is a lot to learn/ un-learn.

Looking at the positive emotion creation cycle as developed by Mantak Chia, I immediately had to think of the ecology of care the way we try to live and embody it within the Slow Sex Movement. Let's have a look at it:

1.It all starts in the heart. The fire organ that holds positive emotions such as love, joy, happiness and appreciation carrying the sound HAWWWW and the color red. The heart is connected to the element of summer which stands for sharing love, creativity, spiritual well being and expansion.

2. From the heart the energy goes into the yellow Indian Summer, the earth element that is connected to the spleen, the stomach and the pancreas carrying the sound WHOOOOO. It  holds positive emotions such as fairness, openness and trust and draws stability from (bio)diversity. The earth feeds and supports all beings.

3. After earth comes metal (sounding SSSSSSSSS). The element that is connected to the the lungs and the skin holding space for courage and righteousness. It represents the season fall, in which the energies from the sky meet the earth gathering supply assets for the winter to come.

4. Fall transitions into winter, the season that is connected to the element of blue water that retreats to the deepest ground and purifies itself. It carries the sound CHOOOOOO and is connected to the kidneys, our ears and the bladder and represents emotions such as gentleness, calmness and silence.

5. The element of wood is represented by green spring. The time of the year in which nature abounds with energy to grow life. The inner home for the emotions of kindness and generosity are the liver, the eyes and the gall-bladder that resonate with the sound SHHHHHH.

It humbles me to see how different cultures over the whole world have created their own systems and methodologies, all inspired by nature and the cosmos, to support humankind to thrive and to prosper. It is our task for the generations to come to pass on the ancient knowledge of 'how to add more life into life' to our children so that they can embody a healthy ecology of care and pass it on to their children and their children to their children...

In one of the upcoming tutorials that will be visible on the platform theEDGE (once we've edited them!) Mattie and I talk about how ecology of care looks like to us and what we do to cultivate more care within all our relations. You will recognize the parallels 🙂
